The change of season can be the perfect time to look to your health and wellbeing and make a few simple and beneficial changes. Over winter, we often eat more and move less, which can leave us feeling lethargic and sluggish. With lighter, warmer days, now’s the time to refresh your body, mind and surroundings.

Move more

Now that the days are warmer and lighter, embrace a daily walk and prioritise getting some fresh air every day. Even just a quick fifteen-minute walk around the block can improve your productivity, focus and creativity, and help you get those steps up. You could also start each day with five minutes of stretching. This will help to improve your flexibility and boost energy by increasing blood flow.

Practise yoga

Yoga is the perfect way to ease back into a steady and consistent exercise routine, especially if you’ve taken time off during the winter months. It’s also a great way to manage stress which can build up as the end of year approaches and work and life schedules ramp up. Make a plan to get to a yoga class at least once a week, if not more and see how the practice can change your sense of wellbeing.

Eat cleansing foods

Refresh your body and help it transition between seasons by opting for light meals and cleansing ingredients. Think vegetable soups, salads and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Leafy greens, berries, avocado and lemon are favourites. Choose organic and seasonal ingredients and add lots of fresh herbs for flavour. Start the day with a fresh green juice and try to stay away from processed foods, alcohol and too much coffee or dairy. Always remember, everything in moderation. Listen to your body and feed it with nourishing options that will have you feeling great.

Up your fluid intake

Start your day with a glass of warm water with the juice from an organic lemon. Keep your water intake up to help flush toxins from the body. Try to drink two to three litres of water a day. If you find this hard, we find keeping a beautiful glass water bottle on your desk can help to remind you to stay hydrated. We also always carry a small water bottle with us when on the go.

Treat your body right

Book in a massage, head to a sauna and dry brush your skin each night to help remove toxins and boost circulation. There are lots of simple activities you can add to your routine to help you feel wonderful and energetic.

Spring clean your home

Spring is the perfect time to give your home a once-over. Get rid of clutter and donate second-hand belongings in good condition to charities or second-hand stores. You could even sell them at a market or online to make a little extra money to go towards something special. As you’re cleaning and de-cluttering, ask yourself if you love it? If it’s not a clear and strong yes, than it’s a no and out it goes. We love Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. Read it, it will change the way you think about your de-cluttering.

Remove unnecessary toxins

Not only should you remove toxins from your body, but look at the products you’re using in your home. Consider your cleaning products and even your skincare products. Look at the ingredients and, wherever possible, try to use all-natural and organic products in your home and on your body. Be aware of added scents and unnatural odours and stop using these products in your home.

Breathe deep

The way you breathe can have a profound effect on your energy and sense of wellbeing. Set aside five to ten minutes each day to meditate and breathe deeply. This simple activity can reenergise your mind and body, centre your focus and improve your overall sense of wellbeing.
