Emily discovered her passion for yoga a decade ago through her other great love, acting. Ashtanga classes were a compulsory part of her acting train at the Victorian College of the Arts, and having never come from an athletic or dancing background, it was the first time she experienced a profound unity with her own body, and strength and grace in the way it could move. It also greatly relieved her anxiety and insomnia.
Her teacher training and ensuing traineeship under Lianne Metcalf at SomaChi yoga have profoundly shaped her highly fluid style. She continues to assist Lianne in teacher trainings specialising in asana, sequencing and adjustments. Emily has used yoga as an excellent excuse for travel, furthering her education abroad in the UK, Indonesia, Thailand and Germany. She has also taught on Australian and international yoga retreats.
Emily’s classes always cater for multiple levels of ability, are full of personality, warmth, energising music and experienced adjustments. You can expect joyfulness, play, seamless transitions between poses and feeling nurtured as an individual. A specialist in both group classes and one-on-one private sessions alike, Emily takes great pleasure in watching her students discover the rewards of yoga and surprising themselves with what they are capable of.
